About This Project

This modern farmhouse estate in Parkland, Florida was completed in 2024. Parkland's residential market favors larger lots, generous setbacks, and homes designed at a scale that takes advantage of the space — and the modern farmhouse style has found a natural home here, combining the warm material palette of traditional farmhouse architecture with the open, light-filled floor plans modern buyers expect. This project is one of the larger custom homes SouthShore has delivered, set on a Parkland lot with the square footage to execute the style at full scale.

The modern farmhouse vocabulary — board and batten cladding, metal roof accents, exposed timber elements, open-concept great room — requires precise execution to read as intentional rather than decorative. SouthShore worked with the project architect from design development through construction documents to ensure the details that define the style were properly specified and achievable within budget. Where farmhouse aesthetic meets South Florida building code — impact windows within a rustic-framed opening, metal roof panels meeting uplift requirements, exposed beams that also function as structural members — the detailing has to be worked out before the permit is pulled, not during construction.

Parkland sits in Broward County, and SouthShore transitioned from Palm Beach County permitting to Broward without the friction that can slow contractors unfamiliar with the cross-county differences. The project is located within a gated community with its own architectural review requirements; SouthShore managed the ARB process in parallel with Broward permitting to minimize total pre-construction time.
